Your body is trying to tell you something, but are you listening?
When we become stressed or repress our emotions, our bodies will often give us clues. Headaches, indigestion, or tightness in your shoulders are some of the symptoms of what could be going on for you physically. These and other symptoms can be indicative of something much deeper. Your body often manifests physical symptoms of what is actually an underlying emotional or psychological issue.
The next time you have a headache or your stomach is bothering you, ask yourself what really could be going on for you. Scan your body and see which parts are calling for your attention. Headaches sometimes reveal internal pressure, stomachaches or indigestion could be a sign that you literally cannot “stomach” something. It could just be that your body is telling you to nurture yourself more and take better care of yourself. Your body, mind, and spirit are all interconnected. When we do not address things psychologically, they may begin to manifest themselves as physical symptoms.
Move it! Nurture your body!
Your body is a miracle and requires care, nurturing, and attention. Take the few minutes each day to bring your full attention to your body. Most of all take the time to MOVE! Each day walk briskly, run, jump, dance, exercise find some way to release both the physical tension and the endorphins that accompany intense movement.
I know that we don’t always feel like moving-we are tired and distracted and have lots of places that we need to put our energy. Start to find ways to make this movement a part of your everyday experience and both your physical and emotional health will benefit in all ways!
